Civil services is one of the most coveted jobs in India. Examination for civil services is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) , government of India. There are several different posts which are filled through civil services exam. IAS or Indian Administrative Services is the most sought after post filled through this examination. The next most important post is IPS or Indian Police Services.
With these posts, comes administrative power and recognition desired by many. That makes this examination very difficult to crack. Out of more than 200,000 applicants every year, only few hundred are selected every year. However, the main difficulty in clearing this exam is not the requirement of higher level of intelligence but it is the ability to grasp wide range of subjects and syllabus in short time. For civil services examination, an ideal student is the one who studies 8-12 hours everyday without break even a single day. He has chosen his subjects very wisely and already knows the basics of his chosen subjects. He has good writing and speaking skills in the medium of examination which can be any Indian language.
Eligibility conditions for civil services exam is only bachelor’s degree in any subject. A candidate is free to choose any subject which can be different from the subjects he or she graduated in.
